The
Bedford
to Bletchley Rail Users’ Association (BBRUA) is a voluntary
group formed in 1980 to help promote and thus help secure a
future for this often-threatened rail service through the
Marston Vale.
The association has approximately 400 members including a
number of corporate members such as schools, councils and local
organizations.
Train services on what is now known as the Marston Vale
Line (originally part of the Oxford
to Cambridge route) are currently operated by London Midland.

Officers of BBRUA regularly meet with managers
responsible for the rail service with representatives from Network Rail
and from the newly formed Community Rail Partnership for the Marston
Vale Line.
Regulatory bodies such as Passenger Focus and the Department for
Transport are supplied with copies of the association’s newsletters.
BBRUA is a corporate member of RAILFUTURE (formerly The Railway
Development Society).
As well as campaigning for reliable train services for the regular
passengers using the trains for school, shopping, work etc the
association views the rail service as having increasing potential for
leisure travel, particularly with the growth of the
Marston
Vale
Community
Forest
close to Millbrook and Stewartby stations.
Talk is no longer of closure but of improvements and rail
development. There is a strong possibility that services will be
extended from Bletchley to/from Milton Keynes Central from 2009 and
support for re-opening through to
Oxford
gathers momentum
