The  Munday Family in the UK
Page 1

Pamela Sinfield from UK writes:
"My great grand parents were "Munday" with the "a" and lived in Bow Brickhill during the 1800's. In about 1878 my great grandfather George Munday was the son of the landlord at the Wheatsheaf. He married the daughter of the landlady at the Plough, Lizzie Howes. The Plough was half way up the hill and has long since closed. I don't know how long the Munday family had lived in Bow Brickhill but as families didn't move around a great deal in those days I think it likely they had been there some decades."

Pamela said that George was 17 and Lizzie 18 when they went to Bow Brickhill church to have the banns read out for their wedding.  George's father stood up and objected on the grounds that his son was too young.  The vicar had to call it off so George & Lizzie eloped.  They took the train to Bedford where they found a compliant vicar and willing witnesses and returned to the village as man and wife.

Phyllis Mary Moyes, UK,  writes:
"My mother was Polly Munday, born in 1898 in Fenny Stratford, the youngest of William George and Lizzie (nee Howes) six children:  Kate, Nancy, William, Sarah, Lissie and Polly. Polly was very much younger than her eldest sisters, in fact sister Kate had a daughter about the same age and the two reputedly shared a pram."

The Henry Munday Society is in contact with a great great great grandson and a great great great grandson of Lizzie and George Munday.  Their great great grandmother was Kate who married a Mr Clinch.
